sewing table redo

I haven't blogged in a while and have a lot to share. My school year will soon be over and I hope to get to finish some projects and get back to blogging.  Here is one of my latest projects.  Of course I forgot to take a before picture.  Just imagine a typical 70s sewing table.  This had great lines and a beautiful front.  For some unknown reason it screamed orange to me.....so I obliged.....
Then I felt like it needed a little something on the front.  But what??? I decided to try a stencil. (I am not too good at stenciling but I tried it anyway.) I cut out a bird silhouette using my cricut and used it as the stencil.  After stenciling I went over it with a little sand paper to take the "newness" off.
and here she is in my store ready for her new home.........
Let me know what you think!! Peace my friends!!

latest project

Here is my latest project  a sideboard/buffet/whatever you want it to be.  Underneath one of the drawers it was stamped August 19, 1959.  It looks like it has 16 small drawers but it only has four!! I decided to mix some turquoise latex paint I had with some Annie Sloan Old White chalk paint. I mixed in some chocolate glaze with the AS clear wax and wah lah......

I still have to put the knobs back after a coat of oil rubbed bronze paint.  This piece is already spoken for.....(sniff, sniff) Let me know what ya think!!! Peace my friends....

I broke

Yes I finally did it!! I broke down and bought the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint that everyone is raving about.  I decided on the Emperor's Silk and Old White.  Now this next part may sound crazy but I can justify crazy. I found a very cheap side table. (VERY)  I decide to use the high dolla' paint on the cheap table.  (Let's just say if I took an empty quart can to the scrap yard I would get more for it than I had to spend on the table...K???) I figured it was small and if I screwed it up I hadn't wasted that much of the precious paint!  I am not sure if I have gotten the waxing method down yet, but here she is.......
(remembered to take a pic after I had painted the legs)

Whatda ya think?
